Imagine this…You and your family are home doing what ever you do when there’s a knock at the door. Someone answers the door and is immediately attacked by who ever was outside knocking. Before you realize it, you are being man handled, threatened and assaulted. What will you do?
How fast can law enforcement get there if you can get a call out fast? Will you and your family survive?
These are things most of us never want to have to consider but if you’re smart and want to put feet to your love, you will not only consider the above scenario but you will put some things in place to insure the best possible outcome.
Here is a list of things that absolutely work. This is just a brief outline so look for future articles going into more detail on each point:
-Plan ahead of time to develop a plan to keep successfully deal with this scenario. After you’re sure you’ve covered this one, brain storm other attack scenarios that you or your family may have to encounter and develop plans to deal successfully with them too.
-Set up some loud alarms on the doors and windows of your home. These are usually wired to a security company and an auto dialer to your local emergency response board. Add some signage to alert potential criminals that they will be met with alarms should they decide to enter your home uninvited.
-Devise a plan for at least one family member to get free and get help. Discuss what each family member is willing to do to gain freedom from an attack that is in progress as well as where they will go and what to say.
-Always keep alert and thinking. Those who don’t give up and shut down increase their chances of a successful outcome. Always try to figure out something you or a member of your household could do to call attention to your dire situation.
Of course safety plans can take time to develop and tweak so in the meantime you may want to keep a stun gun handy by the front door or night stand. Let it be your first step to showing everyone in your family how much you love them.
