Meeting on our days off work and journeying through the city has long been the bonding routine between myself and close-knit friends. It started in college and remains despite working apart of one another.
We would hang out until the early hours of the morning, our apartments being near one another. We would even go around the neighborhood and walk each one home.
I was shocked to learn one afternoon that someone in the gang had been attacked by a stranger on his way home, who demanded cash and valuables. The thug gunned him when he attempted to flee but he made it out alive.
